Well, education is an institution all by itself.
.
No, I think that introspection is--in and of itself--a value worthy of an institution just like religion, government and any of the others. Society seems to have a problem that keeps us from looking into our experiences so that we can develop beyond our problems. We just keep repeating the old ones over and over again and again.
.
Imagine people, in groups, discussing and seeking understanding about how and why we do what ever it is we do as people in society. I guess that's pretty postmodern, huh? A people who take their individual and group experiences/lifes apart to see what makes them tick. And, then, putting their understandings to work?
.
Do we have anything like that in operation today? Does the faculty at your school get together for discussions about how things are going as far as turning out finished products are concerned? Do you--as a matter of school policy--follow up on students to see how your teaching has effected their post university experiences?
