Part of Life are Valuable Lessons LearnedAre Attempts Meaningless in a Results Driven Society?
Everyone wants results, but there are also valuable lessons learned when life does not go according to plan. It all stems down to how one views their attempts.
Throughout life each person is set on a path to become the person they wish to become. Every person's path is different from the next. Each person will face different types of obstacles along the way and these obstacles can relate to a number of different aspects in a person's life. With obstacles being such a common factor among each person, is there truth to the saying that, "Attempts are meaningless, in a results driven society?" After all, part of the learning process throughout life is being able to live both through good and bad experiences. Although results are a way to measure success they are not necessarily the main goal, but the journey of what we learn along the way. The fact is life is life, no matter how one views it, and many of life's lessons are only learned through personal experience regardless whether the desired results are achieved. What is Learned through Attempts Made? While attempts can be fruitful, there are also times when they are not, but does this mean that nothing was gained from these attempts? Part of life is learning how to deal with life when circumstances do not go according to plan. By learning how to deal with rejection and handle problems in a successful manner helps build character and gives a person piece of mind in knowing that there were valuable lessons learned. Maya Angelou, "Courage allows the successful woman to fail-and learn powerful lessons-from the failure-so that is the end, she didn't fail at all." Why Results are Important Results are an excellent indicator of progress and in a way they teach people how to track their overall progress in relation to their goals and achievements. But is this the only effective way to do this? And once the desired results are concluded, was it only through luck that this was accomplished or was it based on trial and error? The truth is even in a results driven society, both of these aspects are important. Why Attempts are ImportantAttempts are important because they show action and initiative. They show passion and a willingness to try even when failure is part of the picture. Attempts also help people figure out what needs to be revised in order for future attempts to be successful. Factual Evidence of ResultsResults are great because they give us actual evidence that supports an effective method to achieve what was set forth to be achieved. But only basing the success of a person based on results is a flaw in itself. Not too many people are able to achieve what they want the first time around, and if they do, it is a combination of factors that contribute to this success. Therefore, a person limits their way of thinking by focusing on results alone, because it is not the only way success can be achieved or measured. Part of life is not always about achieving the desired results, but being able to make fruitful attempts and learn different lessons along the way.
